An Alternative to Silence looks at whistleblower protection legislation prior to the enactment of the Protected Disclosures Act and highlights a number of important cases that demonstrate the shortcomings of the 'sectoral approach' to whistleblowing legislation. It accompanies the Transparency International report “Alternative to Silence – Whistleblower Protection in 10 European Countries” in which Ireland’s whistleblower safeguards are examined in a regional context.

Transparency Legal Advice Centre (TLAC) is Ireland’s only independent law centre providing free legal advice to whistleblowers. To date, TLAC has supported 74 whistleblowers. We would like to help more, but we only have enough funding to employ one full time solicitor at the moment. Your donation will help TLAC support more whistleblowers.
