International Programme Overview

The following list of programmes and anti-corruption tools is not exhaustive. Information on specific national and regional initiatives is available at www.transparency.org or www.u4.no.

Anti-Bribery Integrity Pacts
Developed by Transparency International, the Integrity Pact (IP) is a tool aimed at preventing corruption in public procurement. It consists of a process that includes an agreement between a government (at the federal, national or local level) or government department and all bidders for a public sector contract. It contains rights and obligations to the effect that neither side will pay, offer, demand or accept bribes, or collude with competitors to obtain the contract, or engage in such abuses while carrying it out.

Business Principles for Countering Bribery
The Business Principles for Countering Bribery have been developed as part of a feasibility study undertaken by a group of private sector interests, non governmental organisations and trade unions to develop effective approaches to combating bribery in business.

Wolfsberg Principles for Private Banking
A set of private banking principles agreed upon by eleven major international banks that set forth important guidelines for sound business conduct in international private banking.

Monitoring of International Conventions
TI and its chapters engage in monitoring activities, which assess government or private sector compliance with policy commitments or international conventions. This includes monitoring of conventions concluded within the framework of the OECD, the Council of Europe, the European Union and the Organisation of American States.

Visible Candidates Project
In Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador and Panama, Transparency International has promoted greater transparency in election campaigning via the Visible Candidates project. Candidates are publicly asked to issue statements about their financial history, campaign financing, their political record and their policies, and a database of candidates is compiled and disseminated to the media on the basis of their submissions. The model has since been adopted in elections in Latvia and Germany. Further information is available from the Corruption Fighters Toolkit

Forestry Integrity Network
FIN is an innovative and timely new initiative to combat corruption in use of the world's forests. It is a multi-stakeholder global coalition seeking to bring together non-governmental organisations, governments, international organizations, the private sector and academics to deal with corruption and its impact on sustainable forest use.
